TOPIC: Batch loading photos taking forever

Batch loading photos taking forever 9 years 1 month ago #62080

Just upgraded to HIP4 and about to create my first report. Attempting to batch load photos and it is taking WAAAAAY too long. I only have 47 photos to upload and I am only half way through after 20 minutes. Anyone else encounter this? HIP3 had no issues.

What resolution is your camera? HIP reduces images in stages to preserve quality. You don't need it to be set to anything over 5MP.

I did not have that issue with HIP3. I will see if I can adjust the resolution. I am using a Samsung galaxy for my photos.

Look up how much ram you have with the system and let me know. You could just be low on memory.

You got it! That is the issue. My old laptop dedicated to just reporting is loaded with 1gb ram! Ouch. Talk about outdated. It has held up to this point but HIP was using about 1/2gb and maxing out my computer.
No issues with the HIP 4 just my beater computer. Thank you for all your hard work Dominic and for getting back to me.

Woah. 1GB, that would definitely be the issue. A typical new machine will have 8 or 16gb of ram. Might be time to upgrade. HIP 4 does use more memory but that was required to start processing video and other new features as well as speed increases for newer machines.
