Before my question - I just wanted to ask why you never told me how much time I would save by switching to Home Inspector Pro?!? I started saving time on my second inspection using the software! If you had only mentioned it I would have made the switch about 3 years ago!
My real question... I changed the Report Summary page header to print white because my stationery has blue bar there. When I go back into the report it is reset to print green. When I start a new report it is also set to print green. I have tried changing it through the Generate Report dialogue box and the Report Settings==>Section Color & Print Order dialogue box. It works fine for that time, but then resets to green again. Saving the template does not save the change. All of the other section page headers print white just fine. It is only the Report Summary page header that keeps switching back to green. What do I need to do to get it to stick? Did I mention how much time you are saving me? Today was day 4 of my new HIP life! |

LOL. Glad things are working well for you Oni That's what I like to hear!
When you make a change to the template and click Save Template it will only affect all future inspections. It will not affect inspections you had already started. You are definitely changing it in the right place. Try changing it, save template, exit HIP immediately and go back in and see if the setting is changed. |

Hmmm. I must still be doing something wrong. Any other changes I make to the template save just fine. Changing the header font color in other sections also seems to work fine. This is what I just did and the results:
- Rebooted computer. Started only HIP and no other programs. - Clicked File==>Open Template, Selected the template I wanted (It was the default but I wanted to make sure that was the one that I was working in), Clicked Open. - Clicked Report Settings==>Section Colors & Print Order. The Print Settings box appeared showing all Border, Header Background and Header Fonts as white with the exception of the Report Summary Header Font which as a pale green. - Clicked the Report Summary Header Font cell and selected the top left (white) swatch. Selected close. The report prints as I would like with white print on my blue stationery. - Clicked File==>Save Template, verified that the correct template was highlighted and clicked Save. - Revisited the Report Settings page to confirm it was still set to white. - Clicked File==>Open Template, Selected the same template, Clicked Open. - Clicked Report Settings==>Section Colors & Print Order and the Report Summary Header Font is back to light green again. If I go through the same steps with any other Header Font, it works just fine, saving my changes to any other color, and I can reset them to white. I just tried changing the Report Summary Header Font to a blue and that worked just fine. Then when I changed it from blue to white, it went back to light green after saving and reopening the file. Any thoughts? |

Yippee!!! Found a workaround... Instead of choosing white, I used the RGB pallet and changed the Green channel to 254 instead of 255. It still looks white, but it is using 255,254,255 instead of 255,255,255. That saved just fine. Don't understand why that would make a difference but it does. The software just doesn't seem to like 255,255,255 in that field. (Just to confirm, I reset the field to 255,255,255, saved and reopened and it had changed the field back to 0,153,51 (the pale green). I am going with 255,254,255.
Was that productive? No. But I feel a great sense of accomplishment! I guess it's time to get back to report writing now. |

That's super odd. I'll see if we can reproduce on our side. Thanks Oni!
