Hey guys I'm pretty much a new user of HIP and still getting a feel for it. With my old software I was able to use the same report (saved in word)and use it later for a re-inspection. Insert the new comment into what section I needed with different color/text. How can I insert a new comment to make it stand out to reflect the change. I'm sure there is a way to accomplish this with HIP just need advice on how to do it. Thanks

You just need to open up the inspection (report) you originally did and edit the items you reinspected. The reproduce the PDF.

NEVER, I repeat, NEVER change your original report or play with it after it has been issued. The original report is the proof of what you originally found and reported.
With re-inspects, there usually aren't a lot of issues to look at. My reinspect inspections require a written list from the client of exactly what is to be reinspected. I take that list a make a narrative report on just those items, usually just a sentence or two on each item. Nothing more. That is all that is issued. It is saved as a separate file, Name-Reinspect Final. The other choice is to add a page to your templates titled, Reinspection Findings. You can put it in each template and then just leave it out with the Report Settings / Print Order. |

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

Stephen - I would never change my comments in the original report. What I did was add Amendment to the cover, a statement in the Intro reflecting re-inspection, date, what sections and that new comments are highlighted. I have, like you, would work off a list of repairs only and add my comment below each item. In this case the gas was turned off at the meter so the furnace, water heater and range could not be inspected. Adding the Reinspection Findings to my templates would accomplish what I'm trying to do. I can add amendment intro as a doc and like Roy said, copy/pase.
Thanks guys, greatly appreciated, David |
