Since we have uploaded HIP 4.2 , the program has drastically slowed down. This is consistant with all three of my computer using it, Any solutions? I would rather revert back to HIP 4.0 which worked much better than 4.1 or 4.2. Is this possible reverting it? It has slowed down the report finishing a lot.

Apparently, Dan has talked to one of My inspectors and said the slow down is due to not having the minimum requirements in my computer to run the program. Hmmm. I guess we need to get high end gaming computers to run hip 4.2? He did send us the link to revert back to HIP 4.0 though. Thx

It depends on the machine James. One guy that emailed us today (might have been one of yours) was running a machine with 2 gigs of ram and a 1.6 ghz atom processor. That's EXTREMELY old and slow. A $400 laptop right now will come with 8 gigs of ram and an i3 quad core processor. HIP 4.1 uses Java 8 to be able to do video and some of the other cool features and the requires a bit more resources but it shouldn't be that much more than previous versions.
It could definitely be something else going on too like a missing file. we had a guy last week where the installer missed a jar file and it caused an extreme slow down as the resources went up as it tried to run the file. Rerunning the installer fixed the issue. |

So I am guessing every two years when you update HIP we will have to update computers? Computers are 2 years old, ran fine until 4.2. Which computer do you recommend for using 4.2 to finish the report for $400 Dom?.

No actually we've had guys running 10 year old devices like the HP TC1100 machines with no problem until we updated to utilize Java 8 which is the latest version of Java that Windows 7 and 8 machines run. The biggest issue is ram. If you only have 2 gigs of ram and Windows uses more than 1 gig of it plus a few other programs you have running in the background like antivirus use another half, that leaves less than half a gig for HIP to run. Now if you try to import a couple hundred pics (which is gigs of data being reduced) you're going to start having issues.
You could also look into upgrading the ram in the machine you have depending on the other specs. The 1.6ghz machine with 2 gigs of ram I mentioned before though is equivalent to a 10 year old desktop though so it's gonna be slow no matter what. It's just a matter of how slow. Here's a $249 laptop that at least is a dual core machine with 4 gigs of ram. Still could do much better than this but its WAY better than the forementioned machine: www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-34-231-876 $399 for 8 gigs of ram, 1 terabyte of drive storage and a quad core i3 processor: www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-34-232-083 There's over 300 more laptops around this price on Newegg. Here's a quad core i3 tablet for $399: www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.a...em=9b-0ej-000r-00060 Here's a Microsoft Surface Pro quad core i5 with 4 gigs of ram for $499: www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-34-735-024 |
