TOPIC: Section headings and generic comments

Section headings and generic comments 9 years 10 months ago #60213

Good morning all,
I imagine this has been covered, but I'm short on research time.

What I am looking for is the ability to see the report as it will appear when published, and to alter the heading and descriptions of what is covered in that portion of an inspection.

e.g. from a report I saw by another inspector:

Heading:
Site Conditions
Description from a box that was inserted just below the heading:
Evaluation of soils, site stability, site drainage and geologic conditions are beyond the scope of this inspection and were not inspected or evaluated. Further evaluation of these items can be obtained by geo technical engineers and is strongly recommended on moderate to steeply sloped sites or sites where slides or drainage issues are possible. Drainage is observed at the areas around the foundation or building only. Underground drain pipes or systems are not visible and were not inspected or evaluated, we recommend you obtain further information regarding any drainage systems on the property and further evaluation of these systems if needed. The condition of trees, shrubs or other vegetation was not evaluated. Large trees are potentially hazardous and need to be evaluated by a licensed arborist. Property lines and boundaries were not located by the inspector. Locating the property boundaries can be done by a licensed surveyor. Small landscaping walls or other walls which are not structurally necessary were not evaluated or inspected.

These items were each enclosed in a box, so that they stood out on the page at the beginning of that section. Whether a box or not, it would be good to know how to introduce graphical elements that mark changes within the report, in addition to the above request.

How can I achieve something like this with HIP? Overall, I like HIP much better than the program I started with, which shall remain nameless.

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the forums! Just an FYI for the fastest response use the help desk, live chat or call us. The forums are mostly user to user and I check in on them a few times a day.

What you're looking for is our Edit Document section. Add a document, type the text (do not paste from Word or other programs unless you paste to Notepad first), set it to appear in a particular section then you're good to go!

Thanks Dominic,

I was on my way to a lovely 1948 house that is standing up by an act of faith  ::)..

I'll work on that method with this report today.

Haha, that's an easy report to write. "Inspector strongly recommends a bulldozer." :D

In the Willamette Valley, that would be a recommendation for most houses over 40 years old. I've been tempted...
