TOPIC: How to move HIP to new laptop?

How to move HIP to new laptop? 9 years 11 months ago #59929

I ended up getting a Dell Inspiron to replace my elderly 2goPC.  I have downloaded HIP4.  Can I just copy the data folder from the old machine and drop it in the new machine?  Anything else I need to copy?

Thanks!

Toby

Actually, I think I may have everything working with one exception.  As soon as I type even one letter into the cover page footer I loose all formatting and info on the cover page.  If I delete the letter then all of the client info, photo etc. shows up again.  I am just trying to add the same footer that I used on HIP3.  Ideas?

Hi Toby,

Exit HIP, go to the Data folder and delete the Footer.xml and try opening HIP again. Do not paste into the Footer section from Word.

Thanks Dominic - I closed HIP, deleted the footer.xml file and opened hip again.  I had my company info and formating back on the cover page.  I went to the report settings/Company Page Footer and I just typed the letter "N".  I generated the report and the company info, photo and border are gone and the only thing on the cover page is the letter "N" on the lower left footer area.  I then go back and delete the letter "N" from the Company Page Footer.  I re-generate the report and the cover page is blank.  The only way to get my company info back is to delete the CompanyInfo.enc file and reload the license.  Any other ideas?  The new PC is running a Core i5-4201U @ 1.70GHZ, 64-bit with 8 GB of RAM.  It has Windows 8.1. Thanks for your help!

Give the office a call. You some some extra text somewhere and a remote session will make it easier to find.
