With 4.0 when I try to upload the cover photo from an SD card a message pops up saying I already have a photo in the spot and that I need to delete it if I want to upload a new photo. Problem is I never uploaded a photo and the spot is blank! So in order to get a photo in that spot I have been removing a blank photo and then I can upload the real photo to the spot. Anyone else had this happen?

That's because you started on mobile. Whenever you upload from mobile a cover photo place holder is inserted if you didn't take one on the mobile device. This keeps the first picture you took on mobile from filling in the cover photo slot where you wouldn't want it.

Actually it was! That's been there for the last year. I've no idea why you didn't see it unless you had a really old version of HIP 3 installed before you updated to HIP 4!

I have been doing the same thing. Is it possible to not have this slot filled? so my 1st photo in my series is always my cover photo?

Yes, take the cover photo with the mobile device. If you do that, then mobile will load that. If not, it places the filler there. If you're not using mobile then there's an option when you batch add.
