I have heard more than one person say they keep a second instance of HIP open on their PC while editing an inspection in case they want to edit their template. Is their a technical reason I cant just have one instance open while I am editing on my PC and save the template while editing an inspection? Will my computer blow up? Will congress balance a budget simply because I did this?

No, that's actually the preferred method! Save away as you're working on your inspection.

Now I'm wondering why people say they do that.

You'd need to ask them!

I only work with one template open when working on report.
I believe the benefit of 2 open would be to copy large amount of text from one template to another. Like Kentons narratives or a fellow inspectors. |

maybe I'm confused, but it seems to me that the reason people have 2 open is that in 1 they're editing their 'inspection' and in the other they're editing their 'template'. The way I understand it, you can't save the template when in an inspection. Is that not correct? If I'm wrong, can someone tell me how to save changes to a template while working on an inspection?
