I'd be thrilled to accept a longer upload time if it would allow higher resolution photos in our reports.

The problem with higher resolution photos in the report would be the size of the report.  When you start passing the 5Mb size, some email accounts will not accept emails over that size.  There is no reason a client would need a high resolution photo of something since 99% of the time they don't know what the heck they are looking at anyway...
