I am trying to merge two different hzf files that have different template structures. When I save the updated base.hzf file with the merged items from the merged.hzf file that I created from a template.tpz file, the merged.hzf files over writes my updated base.hzf file.
Any thoughts? Below is an example of the steps I was doing. I tried this with other Template tpz files that I saved to new hzf files. Same results. 1. I open my base.hzf file. 2. Then I merge in NACHI-CommSOP.hzf file that I created from NACHI-ComSOP.tpz template. 3. When this is done, "Merged Inspection 1" is added to the top Menu pull downs at the top of the base.hzf file. 4. When I click on "Merged Inspection 1" menu item, all of the merged file Menu items are shown in the pull down as separate selection categories. 5. I then go to the "Edit Template" and change "Merged Inspection 1" menu item to "Commercial". 6. I then "Save Inspection" to save and update my new base.hzf file. All looks good, no changes to the top Menu items. I generate report, all looks good too. 7. Then I close my updated base.hzf file (re-save when prompted). Ok this is where the problem happens. 8. I re-"Open Inspection", my updated base.hzf file. The updated base.hzf file opens, but the file content has been over written by the NACHI-CommSOP.hzf items. All of the original base.hzf content is gone. |

Sounds like you need the team on that one.
I do know that the merge is led by the first template loaded however . Still it is odd that the template would save and the data would change on a reopen. |

I'm a bit confused. It's updated because you merged the commercial template in. Are you not seeing the original data at all?
What version of HIP are you running by the way? |

I'm running 3.8.
Just as I described. The file I merge in, over writes the base file. Give it a try using to file that have different template structures. |

> I confirmed that if you merge in a hzf file into your initial opened hzf file that has the same base template structure, then only the narrative items that are new in the merged hzf gets added. But if you merge a hzf file that has a different base template it completely over write the initial hzf file.
I was hoping to merge two different hzf files that have different base templates to only get the different tabs with their narratives to save me from having to create new tabs and cut and pasting narratives from the file I want to merge. |

Let me email you the 3.9 file as I made some changes to how Merge works. We've had guys merging different templates for the last year and that definitely shouldn't be a problem.
