TOPIC: Mobile changes report format when brought back into PC?

Re: Mobile changes report format when brought back into PC? 10 years 11 months ago #56008

I was hoping that this latest release would have resolved this issue, but much to my chagrin, the problem remains. Is this an issue with the PC version or the Mobile version?
I've updated both but to no avail. . .

Still hoping to be able to use the mobile version with my template soon. . .

Please advise.

Thanks for your help.

I also have the issue but not as bad as yours.  I have all my separators at New Line & Bullet.  When I use mobile and upload/download, it changes the very first tab to Comma.  Sometimes/sporatically, it changes a few other tabs in the first section to comma.  I do have to reset it with every inspection.  The 3.8 version did not fix that problem for me.  Thanks.

I thought I had it licked but found that it can still happen, just less often now. For now the reset all option under Report Settings->Options is definitely the fastest fix. I'll be working more on this.

Eric, I'm glad to learn that I'm not the only one that is having issues with this.

With over 200 tabs in my template (they are not all used in every inspection) any time saved using the mobile version for me is more than spent going through and checking the formatting of the report.

For this reason, I've had the mobile since Feb of this year and have yet to be able to actually use it for a real inspection.

Report writing seems to be the bottle neck in my operation. The HIP desktop has dramatically improved the process but having talked to other inspectors using the mobile version of another software, they have raved how it has improved their report writing time even more.

Since I've been unable to use my template on the HIP mobile, I bought a Toughbook CF-18 with the digitizer screen where I could just run the PC version of HIP and with the stylus the time was reduced even more. I got a hand and shoulder strap for the CF-18 and started to carry it throughout the inspection and this may be what I end up with but would really like to try the mobile as it seems that my phone would be much easier to access.

In any event, I also realize that if only two of us are effected by this, it's not practical to make this a high priority to fix. In other words, if there are others that have noticed this, it would be helpful to weigh in on this.

The "reset all" option does nothing for me as when executed, everything stays the same and even if it did, I would still have to go through and edit as not all the tabs are the same, which seems to be the catalyst that exposes this issue.

Optimistically hoping for a resolution. . . .

Are you having more than 1 or 2 tabs change Andy? That's all I've had others experience. And you're not using the same separator for all damage panels and another for all selection?

It seems to cascade through the tabs in any section that I've selected items in. All my damage panels have the same separators, its only the "Selection" panels that I have formatted different. Some of them are statement fragments that I can select to form custom statements depending on the configuration of different areas. This is why a while back I inquired about the possibility of having a "blank space" separator added but in lieu of the blank space, I've been using a comma.

I'll do a little more hammering on it on my end and see if I can pick up on any patterns that might be helpful in narrowing this down and report back in a day or so.

Thanks again for your response and efforts in resolving this "hair ball".

Have a Merry Christmas.
