D-Photo Measures Seems to be more focused on inspections |

Hi Bob
Slightly off topic. Spent a lot of time amending my template to be as efficient as possible on android. (or any SINGLE device that can be easily carried during a survey) I still would not be comfortable using an android device on a paid job. A number of my concerns are.
All in all from my experience (and my limited mobile template to date), until the ENTIRE report can be captured, edited and almost finalised (save for printing to pdf and final reading) On-Site using ONE android device, my best option is to continue with my (oversized) labtop / notebook. |

No good quote function but let me break this up as the concerns are not necessarily related.
When using HIP on the Windows OS, I find it easy not to miss out on any section or subsection. I do not have the same confidence using the smaller android system. Any time saved using the android on site is more then lost, when reviewing possible missing subsections within the report when I can eventually view a pdf of the report. If the Android software had a system that showed what sections / subsections within the template had not been completed, it would be a big advantage. I agree that is a concern I have not found a simple system for adding captions to pictures, that doesn't make my report look repetitive. Okay on that one you lost me as you can use drop downs or load a keyboard such as "siine","swiftkeys" or my new favorite "AI keyboard" which allows you to set up typing shortcuts making adding text very fast, not to mention you can use Google voice which is very accurate.(all being said I use directional comments only in the desktop version. (example) south living room wall....or....basement bathroom. Have not found an app that allows editing of pictures. (I find including my finger pointing at a defect in the original picture is one option). Syncing and uploading and downloading reports via the cloud has advantages, but can be time consuming (especially when internet connections may not always be good). Allowing the transfer (via wi-fi) of the report to a labtop (in your car after the inspection) at the end of an inspection would save a lot of time. I use wifi only. All in all from my experience (and my limited mobile template to date), until the ENTIRE report can be captured, edited and almost finalised (save for printing to pdf and final reading) On-Site using ONE android device, my best option is to continue with my (oversized) labtop / notebook. HIP mobile is not meant to be the only device and actually is dependent on finishing your report at a windows or apple device anyway. There are some good photo edit apps you can use ,and I am just experimenting with some of them . I tried the D measure and like it as I can take a picture from inside the app for fast edit and another one is caption it which puts the captions below the shot. Just tried [split camera] which is nice but has annoying ads so gotta look for a paid version. (have you tried "Free Note" yet ? I like the idea of captions on "caption it" app as I can add rep text or any other color to make them stand out and scroll through with a client the entire photo report. Bad part is it is outside of the HIP program. note....I use photos for all my notes so do not have as much issue with what was recorded as I miss nothing through experience of always doing it that way. My issue is losing it in sync which Dom is working on. |
