The iPad version uses the native camera program with their pinch/zoom option. If you use it to zoom out and get the entire photo does it work properly?

No. Actually when taking pictures with the ipad on the wind MIT program it's fine. The only place it restricts the horizontal size is in the mobile HIP program.

Does the pinch zoom work for you on the mini?

Yes, it works but pinching only goes so far. And besides, for the wind mit program, there's no need to pinch when taking a picture. Clearly, there's a difference in the two systems Dom. Is there any way possible to remove what is restricting the picture dimension on the HIP mobile app?

The two programs use different languages so they have a slightly different interpretation of the native camera. I'll see what I can do.

Hey Dom,
Just to continue the photo discussion, I've noticed two differences in the photos which are taken when I use the HIP mobile on my Iphone. The 8Mp camera produces great photos for me when using the desktop version but when I use the mobile, the photos in the report are all shrunk in from the edges of the available photo space. I have the template set to the highest quality and 2 photos across, but as you can see in the sample below, the end result from that same template used on the mobile is a much smaller photo. I also have seen a difference in the way photos are captured as Bert described, but the truncated photos only occurred when using the phone vertically. I included some screen shots from the phone to show you what I mean. In the first I took a landscape photo of the keyboard and the dimensions/ratio of the photo match the camera's for the most part. When I take the same photo in portrait, or holding the camera vertically, the photo is clipped on both sides and ends up being a square. I believe this is the issue Bert was referring to. I've just been forcing myself to frame all my photos in landscape orientation. Out of the two above questions, the overall size of the photos is the most important to me. I love the photo quality in the reports, but I'm seeing that doing the photos within the mobile program can be really fast too. I did two full inspections yesterday, the first with an Ipad and the second one with my Iphone. The phone inspection where I was able to take photos within the program and caption them using dictation on the fly was noticeably quicker. It's hard to compare one inspection to another, but I believe using the mobile for the first time to complete the entire inspection with captioned photos ended up shaving somewhere between 30-45 minutes off the inspection time. That's crazy efficient and it can only improve with use and familiarity with the mobile program! |
