Damn, I better get Dave that T-Shirt!!
Scott, did you type in the client info stuff last? Try going to the main section list (which triggers a save) and then upload and see if it all comes across okay. It's supposed to auto save when you leave the client info screen too but it's possible there's a bug there I need to track down. How did things go on the first inspection? How much of the data did you manage to get entered on site? It usually takes about a month to get used to something to where you're totally accustomed to the change but it's faster if you've done on site data entry before. |

I put the client information in first. Should that be the last step? I know I went back to the client information and then back to the report while I was on at the home, because I added the wife's name to the report.
I use to use a PDA on site with 3D, so I was kind of use to entering data on site. I entered about 75% of the inspection on site, which is about what I did with 3D. I cleaned it up at home and uploaded photos. I don't see myself ever uploading photos on site or completing the report at the home. |

75% is great. I'm sure you'll improve that with time since it was your first run. Did you try taking pics with the iPad at all?
Try a test for me where you re-enter the client info, then upload the report again. Let me know if it saves. I did make a few changes to the update that I'm waiting for Apple to approve (ARGH) that might fix that as well. |

Ok, I uploaded a new report. This time I opened the report first in the iPad (put the report name in and then opened the report) then I entered the client information and then entered the report data.
It all saved and exported over into the report on my PC. So it worked fine doing it this way. I do not use the iPad for photos. It is just to cumbersome to carry around the house, I park it in the kitchen and just return as needed to enter the data. I use a Nikon Coolpix AW100 camera for my photos. It is a waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof camera. Basically it is a "Crud Proof" camera that is perfect for home inspectors. Now if I can find a waterproof camera with WiFi or Bluetooth that would be sweet. You could then transfer pictures without cables or removing the SD card. |

I bought the AW100 this summer to go riverrafting. It fogged up constantly. I'd dry it out for 3-4 hours and just setting it outside would cause condensation to form. It went right back when I returned. Of course you won't have as much moisture around but I bought it to drive with it, raft with it, etc. Oh well!
I think the iPad Mini will be more conducive to use when walking around as it's a bit smaller. I'm doing some more tests on the iPad now. Still waiting for Apple to approve my update submitted a few days ago... |
