TOPIC: Closing out a year!

Closing out a year! 12 years 10 months ago #46002

I like to collect all my Inspections for a specific year and consolidate and move to archives and/or store to large storage drive etc. This leaves my working hard drive free and clear for new year.... My question: I copy all my Client DATA (copy to be safe!) Paste into my storage area then WIPE it off my working drive.... HERE'S WHERE I QUESTION: Should I also do same to CLIENT DATA or simply the CLIENT REPORTS???? >:(

The reports don't take up that much space.  I have all reports since 2008 still in my HIP program.  You would be surprised at the number of times you want to go back and get a client's phone number, find out who the buyer's agent was on a specific inspection,  or open a past report for some reason.  As long as you have it copied elsewhere as a back-up, I would still keep the client in the program.  JMHO.

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball infield, the click of a wooden bat and the taste of a hot dog at a warm sunny daytime double-header.

Thanks! I actually use Excel for all the pertinent info, easy to create mailing lists, e-mail lists etc..
Gonna start collecting much more info as time goes on...
In NY we really look to the Attorneys... (some us develop "unfriendly reputations" and realtors may not love us...)
Trust I GO BACK MANY TIMES TO FIND INFO ON CLIENTS... sometimes even to send a blast to 3-5 year old customers... NEVER KNOW!!!
Many Thanks for your input! (actually never knew it took up suck little space...)

What Stephen said. You also want to make sure and backup both folders.
