TOPIC: Need Help with Pictures.

Need Help with Pictures. 12 years 11 months ago #45761

I have two questions pertaining to pictures.  This is only the 2nd day that I have actually used HIP for a report. Please bare with me...this report has not been proof-read yet.

1st
Lets just say this report took me wayyyy too long...pics slowing me down the most.  I had almost 200 pics. I did the whole batch thing. I am use to adding pics as I write my reports.  When I'm at a particular heading that I realize I want pics at....then I add them and move on. Everytime I got to add pics, I find myself clicking on photo tabs till I find the pics I wont.  It's a hunt and peck since I can only see 4 pics at a time.  What am I doing wrong?

2nd...and Maybe only Dominic has this answer...
On the attached sample...I used a 640x480 cover picture.  Is there a way I can lower my logo to the top of the picture to take up the white space? The logo only goes to the bottom of my blue lettering, so this is very little white space under the actual logo pic.

Okay, you're doing pics all wrong. Import at the beginning. Go through all your pics and slot them AT ONCE. Then when you're going through the program you can click Show Photos to see all your pics for that section (or use the side by side mode if you have a large screen). This is MUCH MUCH faster. Some guys will do their pics at the end but that's up to you.

Because of all the text that 'could' go on the cover the logo location is pretty fixed. This is something that I've plans to change and make much more flexible.

Oh..Well now you tell me! :o

It sounds backwards at first, but as I think about it, it makes sense.

Yeah it does for many who switch from other programs. You'll find it goes a long way to help remind you of issues and really speeds up the overall process, dramatically. You'll see after your total report time tomorrow!

Dan

I have been using HIP for many years now. I still struggle with the houses that have numerous defects and pics. I have even fallen into a bad habit of not completing the data on site.

The first sample of the townhouse you did goes smoothly as it is newer with less defects.

Most of my homes are more like your sample here. Actually most are worse.

My report time still is way to long. Part of the reason is I am inspecting room by room but reporting system by system. I try to place all electrical in electrical section. So I am going back and forth all over the report. But I do not want GFCI listed in 6/8 places on report or an S trap at all sinks reported in 5 areas of the report.

So I try to compile all the data on site, batch add pics at home. But on most house around here my report time is at least an hour usually more.

Sure if I was in an area with no basements, newer construction and relatively good homes I could finish the report quicker.

Thanks David,

Yes...the first sample I was able to do mostly on site since the place was clean. ? The 2nd report was a 5600sq-ft home and I had 200 pics. ?

I always entered text in my report 1st, and added pics when appropriate. ? Im learning that HIP works best when entring your pics 1st, and text will be added later.

But overall- so far so good!
