With the advent of the new comment feature, I would like to officially vote for a user's choice between vertical and horizontal scrolling.
My campaign for this option has these key points: 1. I'm still not fully used to it since all my other programs and even the other lists within HIP use vertical scrolling, it's just not a natural reflex for me. 2. Due to my addictive use of mouse wheel, I just expect things on the screen to go up and down when I use it. 3. I'm not doing onsite reporting and so I'm not going through the program too quickly to miss my comments. That and I'm anal retentive. 4. The comment feature allows me to look down the left side of the window and when I reach the bottom I want to just stay focused there and let the comments scroll up til I see my comment. Kind of like movie credits. 5. Some of my damage panels scroll vertically for about five lines and others don't at all, just horizontally. I've never figured out why, but it is enough that it keeps me guessing about where to look when I do use my mouse wheel. 6. I just don't have so many comments that I need to scroll very much. Most of my comments use the list feature extensively and so the number of unique comments I have is limited. I'm usually only looking at 1 1/2 columns. A short list, a small roll of the mouse wheel, my eyes and brain scanning the comments as they roll past, I know the unseen comments are coming from only the bottom of the screen, I'm certain of where to look and it's a motion/movement I'm using everywhere else on my computer... it's perfect. But I haven't really given it much thought... |

If you make a divider or header such as "***Built-up roof***. Then put Built-up roof defects in that section below the header you can find them much easier. I also use lines to divide certain comments and defects. ___________

Hi
Im new to HIP and am evaluating this software, although im not totally familiar with it i dont see how to add comments in my own words or does it need to be added to the comments list under a specific page heading, i find this frustrating not being able to type my own comments right away, is there a way to do this. |

Hi Patrick,
Click the Edit Comments button along the top of the program. The left side will turn into an editor with an ADD button. You can also double click any comment to edit it. |
