I am going to try and ask this so it makes sense.
So I have a base report that I open to do an inspection report. It has comments already highlighted that go in every inspection report. Informational items and FYI's, that kind of stuff. Also it has example pictures and graphics already in it that I seem to use a lot. My question is...When I turn the base report into a new report and save it, and save the template how can I save the template for the base report? Or do I have to go back and make any changes to the base report afterwards? Hope this makes sense. |

Makes perfect sense to me. What I have done is create a client data file called Next Inspection. I have my common illustrations and the common repetitive selections selected. What I do is a soon as I open I save it to my inspection for that day. I make notes at my inspection for changes for the next inspection data folder. I have been doing this for about the last 100 inspections. I have not saved the template since, just keep updating the next inspection data file. I was tired of entering the same info. I would be glad to send you the client data file if you would like to look at it. |

David is right, in a nutshell you can't save the template for the base report.(yet, cross your fingers and pester Dom about this often) Since template data is saved with the client file, you would have to go back to the template and make any changes to it specifically.
Along with David's idea, you could also just periodically redo your base report, maybe twice a month. Save your template each time you make a change during report writing and then once or twice a month, make a new base report file by taking the current updated template and adding your photos and selecting those often used comments. Another idea is to see if some of those comments, graphics, etc. can be worked into a document which would automatically be added to every inspection. That is something which would save in both the template and the client file. One way or another, it just depends on what is the least amount of work for you. |

Good stuff guys. I've been messing around with this issue when I have some time and nothing worked. Right under my nose all the time. David, if you would be so kind, I would really like to see your.tpz file.
