TOPIC: First Letters being Deleted

Hey Dom, I'm not sure if this bug has been discussed, but I finally realized what was happening and thought I would mention it to you.

I open a comment I have sent into the red/black column and then delete one or more drop-down lists (like if I'm writing a custom comment or just making a major change to one).  When I click "OK" to close the window and move on, the first letters in the comment will be deleted. I'm not certain, but I believe the number of letters at the start of the comment deleted will correspond with the number of dropdown lists deleted when I edited the comment.  So it will look like this:

    There is a <<LEVEL>> hairball located in the <<LOCATION>><<ROOM>>.


Modified Comment - bolded shows words selected or added, strikethrough show deletions

    There is a <<major>> hairball located in my cat's throat the <<LOCATION>><<ROOM>>.

I don't know if this happens in the selection panels, I have only experienced it in the damage panels.

That's good, try switching to more protein in his diet to reduce the hairballs

I can't seem to replicate the problem. What version of HIP are you using? Setting up the drop downs and the calculations that go with them were pretty precarious so it's possible there's a bug in what you're doing but I don't see it. Let me know.

Okay, here's a little more info.

I tested a few things and it seems to only happen when I select the section of the comment which has the dropdown lists(or select all) and then I immediately type the replacement text without deleting it first. If you select the stuff you are replacing and hit delete before you type your replacement text, it will not drop the first letters.

To duplicate it just move a comment with three dropdowns over to the red/black, select all and then type "test".  You should only have a "t" left when you click okay.

Oh and I'm using the macy merge version, 2.9.3

Ok, if you're highlighting and selecting text I can definitely see that happening as the program has a much hard time tracking lists within a selection. For now, just don't do that. Use backspace or delete.
