TOPIC: Edit documents

Edit documents 16 years 3 months ago #2627

Dom this is driving me crazy help please.

I use my edit documents heavy but it does not save the document with the report . When I type another report and change the edit document to fit the new report and for some reason I need to go back to an old report in the client files and open it up it will only have the most recent docment. How can I get around this I need the complete report saved in history.

Hi Charley,

In the future there is going to be an option to have documents be saved with an inspection only. For right now you have two options that other inspectors employ.

1. Create a new document for each inspection, i.e. 1234 Main Street Summary
or
2. Create a new section of your report (look at Russ Spriggs sample) and call it Intro or something (use a damage or selection panel) and add your comments there. That way you can save multiple comment types and add them together, and they'll be saved specifically to the report.

Hi Charley,

I understand its different. That's why Im saying to use one of the two methods above as they will work perfectly in your situation. If you want, email me your template and a sample report an I'll put something together to show you.

What is the function of the "Edit Comments" Description Text area?
Once you enter text into the little area of Materials / Observations, how do you enter the info into the section and how do you save?

On another note, I would like to thank all of you for help and directions, although you would not know it, because I don't post anything, I just read.

This has been a long road (almost a year) trying to decide how I would put my inspection template together with something I would feel comfortable giving to a client. As most of you know, there is a comfort level in using the same software and stepping out is a big step.

I tend to over analyze everything and it gets to a point that I have to make a decesion based on my comfort zone and with your help and Dom's patient directions, I'm very happy with HIP.
A convert, if you will.

I bow to superior service and a quality product.

Thank you,

Dan Smart

The Description Text Area is what appears to the left of the narratives you choose in the report. i.e. Materials : bla bla bla. or Observations: bla bla bla. Take a look at your report and you'll see to the left of your comments in each section is a word, that's where it comes from.

Glad you're loving the program Dan :) Always happy to have a satisfied customer. Feel free to email me a testimonial with your picture and website and I'll put you up on the site!

If you feel up to it, feel free to post a pdf sample of what your report looks like, or even share you template by posting it (up to you).
