Hello Dom,
I am going to purchase your software and was wondering if I get it now and set up my template on my Mac. When I get my CTL2Go in April, how will I transfer my templates to the new Windows Computer so I do not loose my changes? I want to start now to change the templates and get used to it so when the computer comes I can hit the ground running. Second question-How do I purchase? DUH!! Looking around for a purchase area. ??? |

You'll just copy your Home Inspector Pro folder from one computer to another and enjoy. When it's time and you have any questions just let us know.

What is the best way to transfer- Disk or through a USB if possible> I am not familiar with transferring. I could use a removable storage device right? Love the software. I am already modifying and it is so much easier to do than my old system. I was pretty much stuck with what they gave me unless I was a programmer.

Yup, flash drives work great. You can also use a program called drop box to move files across the internet to a virtual folder on each computer.
Glad you're liking the program!! |

Dom,
I can only plead computer inexperience. Have started altering the template on the desktop. The CTL2Go tablet came. 1. Downloaded HIP. Got the license from your email and tablet appears to be changed from demo to full version. 2. I used Explorer to copy my altered template to a flash thumb drive. 3. When I open the tablet, there is no pull-down to select the altered template from the flash. It only sees the standard factory templates. 4. On the desktop, I see no where to "Save" the template anywhere. It asks where to save the completed client report or PDF to any file I choose like the folders for the 5500 over the past 11 years, BUT.......I can't even start in the field yet with my new template! 5. When I use explorer on the tablet to find my template on the flash, it does not open the entire document in HIP, it opens the code lines! In my current understanding, when I open a MS Word doc, from an email, the computer automatically opens "Word" and loads the document. 6. I am also afraid I will be in the reverse mode of transferring the inspections of the day, back to the home office. I am guessing that will go easier from my saving test inspections while sitting at a desk, etc. but the template will not open as one operating document. Not completely dense, just need to know the "Fonzie" trick for hitting the juke box to make it work. Marty |

Hi Marty,
You need to copy the template, the .tpz file into the same location, c:\program files\home inspector pro\data on the new computer. Then you will see it under Open Template on your computer when you open HIP up. For moving inspections from one computer to another you can Save Inspection to a thumb drive then Open Inspection on the other computer. |
