TOPIC: Printing issues - options

Printing issues - options 14 years 4 weeks ago #36421

Is there a way to have certain specific sections only, i.e Conclusion or Intro Letter to start on a brand new page, when you have continuous printing selected for the report?
2. how can I change where the rating definitions prints - right now it prints in front of my Intro letter. I would like to move it further back, with other definitions etc.
3. If the section has many or extensive comments and the previous section finishes the print, lets say in the top 1/3 of the page, and new section has more than 2/3 length, the print will not continue on the same page but leaves it almost empty and goes on into a new page. Leaves big blank space in between - and that is in the " print report continuously "format

Hi Frank,

1. Right now it's all continuous or each section starts on it's own page. When everything is on it's own page you can set a document to show up prior to a section or on the same page as the section.

2. Unset the documents you have set before the cover back to not show, then set them in the order you want.

3. I'd need to see a PDF to see what you're talking about (I have an idea). Right now a single item within a page will not span over two pages. This was voted on some time back by the guys. The reason for this is that on 99% of reports each item is typically 5-6 lines at most. If we allowed an item to split you'd have plenty of places where a 5 line item would have 1 line on one page and the next 4 lines on the next.

Hi Dominic,

sorry, I sort of abandoned the tread, got involved with some other stuff.

I do understand, that you do not want to break the comments list, although I don't see anything wrong with it. They do continue on the following page after all, and as long as they are broken at bullet points/new lines, it should not be an issue at all - it is a logical continuation of the segment - especially in the continuous printing mode
However the bigger issue is, that the Header stays on a page and nothing prints behind it unless it fits onto that same page. Header and the comments definitely need to stay together though, even if the whole thing is moved over to the new page.
Otherwise it looks really silly in the report - see the attachment

I hope this makes it clearer

By the way - is there any list on the HIP site of some standard comments for the reports

Thanks again,

Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2011

Frank

Hi Frank,

I'll check out the header issue there, I agree that should move to the next page. Let me think of a way to set in the program a way to break an item across pages if it's more than x lines long (that way short comments won't get split up).
