In my final reports, I have sections printing even though there is nothing selected in that section. The section printed is blank except for the section header. i do not have the box checked to print all pages whether something is checked or not. Do I need to uncheck those sections in the section colors and print order options? Or are they not supposed to print, but they are?

Hi Robert,
The original idea of the checkbox is as it says: Print items even if no comments are selected. By default it's checked, and by unchecking it then items (i.e. walls, floor, ceiling) won't print if no comment has been selected. As such it has no impact on an actual page printing, which is why you still get the header. You can uncheck the page like you mentioned for it not to appear at all. I had a few people ask (as you are) for it to just not print a page automatically if none of the items on the page end up having a comment on it so you don't need to bother going to Print Settings and unchecking the area. I think it's a good idea and I have added it to the list of things to be modified in a future version. I can't think of a reason not to make the change. If someone else has please let me know! It will slow down the time to create a pdf slightly as I'll have to loop through all the items within the section before determining that no comments were selected but on most machines the amount of time shouldn't be noticeable. |
