TOPIC: Chat on energy audits and marketing

Would anyone be interested in doing a chat or discussion on energy audits in the near future and how to properly market this service?

I am in the beginning process in obtaining my certification.

There are so many things to know and learn!!

I personally don't believe chats are the proper format for such a discussion especially if you get more than 4 users involved in the conversation.  Too much side talking going on to be productive or of any use in my opinion.


Why not just start a thread here?  I think it would be much more helpful!
Especially as there are NUMEROUS web links that you could be directed to for additional helpful information.  Chat format just isn't helpful in my opinion unless you wanted a one on one with someone in particular and it's cheaper than a phone call.

I have a plan in mind to becoming a Certified Energy Auditor.

What are your opinions and suggestions pertaining to Energy Audits and proper marketing techniques.

You should be careful that what ever education you get allows you to call yourself an "energy auditor".

I generally call them an energy survey or heat loss evaluation as I am not certified as an "auditor"

I believe website marketing has been my number one, followed by word of mouth, and then past client contacts advising them of my new service ( I offer a discount to my past clients).
I have a few other things in the works for marketing but don't want to divulge just yet due to some regional and local competition around here.

Anyhow... Home Energy Tune-uP has a pretty good program and training.  We got them to come to Columbus last year for a 2 day seminar.  Pretty good information and marketing ideas there as well!

Also read into your local and some of the state funded programs which are available.
