Is it acceptable to have a business that does BOTH home inspections and home appraisals?

I don't see why not, I get asked that all the time.
As long as they understand that the Appraiser is inspecting for Value of the Home and the Home Inspector is inspecting for the Condition of the Home. Personally, I would not do both on the same Home. Once Inspected for the Condition, the Appraisal Value may be steered to a lower value and would not be a fair appraisal value as it would be without the inspection. So I would say, appraise the home, but don't do the Inspection or vise versa. |
