TOPIC: What Thinkest Thou?

What Thinkest Thou? 14 years 4 months ago #33741

It seems to me that this new thing of players getting together, colluding, to form their own teams is a very, very bad sign for pro sports.  I think that is way, way, way too much player power.  It likely will breed more and more power grab by other people and groups.

This is likely something that will spread to other TV-driven sports as the super-self-important-narcissists in each one think that they, too, should get the world's attention.

So much for teams developing players and building for the years to come.  I also wonder if the team owners themselves will not begin contacting, recruiting, specific players (via other players on their teams) to offer money in exchange for fame and number one outcomes!

As I said at the start, I think this is a very, very bad sign for pro sports.

What thinkest thou?  Pray tell...

Agreed, though I could care less about the NBA...they're all prima donnas.  There are no true leaders anymore...no Magic's, no Bird's, no Jordan's...Kobe is about the closest thing to a "step on your throat" player.  Everyone else just wants the "buddy system" to win because they can't do it themselves:  either winning or leading.

EDIT:  I also LOVE how Wade, Bosh and LeBron "sacrificed" their paychecks to play together...yeah, that huge 5 year/$99 million was such a sacrifice...in the words of Latrell Sprewell:  "I've got a family to feed"...I think my head may implode...what say you!?!??!  :P

Been over 100 every day this week until today - it only got to 100F!

Attic spaces have wood as hot as 165F, like today!  When you go there you can't touch anything!

Much less breath...

Yuck...it's been mid-80's here, humidity has been tough.  Hoping for some rain this weekend; after a really wet June, it's drying out fast.
