Rock N' Roll 16 years 5 months ago #1541

This message board is a little staid - how about everyone offering what they think are the greatest lines from rock n' roll songs?  I suggest:

"You're the cutest thing I ever did see,
Really love your peaches, want to shake your tree..."

I love Steve Miller. "You're a joker, you're a smoker, you're a midnight toker." Used to listed to him a lot. I'll have to think about what my favorite line of all time is though!

You're right though, too many guys lurking around and not posting. I'll have to start sending harassing emails to the members to get them to post, hehe.

Your quote should be "I'm a... I'm a... I'm a..." but no matter...

"You can't always get what you want,
but if you try, sometimes,
you get what you need..."

It is probable that most people do not know the genesis of the song "Let It Be."

Paul McCartney's mother died from cancer when he was 14.  That struck deep.  Years later, during one particularly sad night, he had a dream (or was awakened by her) that his mother, shining somewhat, was standing at the foot of his bed, whispering to him.  Among other things she said, "It is alright Paul.  Let it be.  Let it be."

If you read the words to the song in the context of that experience, they take on a whole different meaning.  Here are a couple -

"And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be."

Oh, his mother's name was Mary...

Yeah that definitely puts a different spin on things. Where did you hear that from? I haven't heard that before.
