TOPIC: Credit Card PCI Compliance Letter

If you use paypal and take cards onsite , through your website or over the phone you have to pay $35 a month rather than $10 a month and go through compliance (run by McAfee instead of Trustwave, but same basic questions). I'd just submit your questions again and call Jeff and let him know you're not getting answers to your questions.

  Where do we find this questionnaire that we are suppose to fill out? Also, is there a chance I can find someone else to take care of this mess? This is not in my comfort zone when it comes to these matters. Thats what is why I find programs where I only have to fill in my basic information. lol. So I take it that you still have not been successful in getting these fee done away with since some of us do note input the credit card information ourselves? Thanks for all of your help in this matter.

Mark, if you take CC payments on your site or by other means, I think you have to go through with this. Contact the vendor for where to get compliance info.

Dom, did you allude to the fact that if you only send a link for payment through PayPal, that you do not have to be PCI compliant? Or did I read it wrong? I would show the quote, but it is not working, but you know that already. Look at reply #60.

Mike, for now that's true. If you only send a link to someone for a paypal request and they pay via the paypal site (not yours) then they don't have to pay. But that doesn't work for onsite situations and the phone.

Mark, you should have received the link via mail and email for Trustwave. If not, you will soon. You have to answer the questions legally. And every person in the country taking credit cards has to answer the form unfortunately. You can thank the hackers that broke into Barnes & Noble and Heartland Bank.

FYI, PayPal now has a app for the iPhone, Blackberry, and Andriod that allows you to do most of the same things with your account (Send Money, Request Payment, etc.) on your phone as you can do with a computer. Also, if you and your client have an iPhone, you can "Bump" to have the transaction completed.
