This is a detail that I cannot figure out. This is a picture of the top of a wall panel. the channel or key way in the top of the panel is filled in with a laminated (microlam) 4x4 glued and screwed into place. Then the splice plate is attached over the micro lam 4x4 at each panel joint. We did catch one side of the panel joint with some nails, but it would seem better served if the plate was under the micro lam. This would insure all of the nails were into the panel joint instead of some getting lost in the laminated 4x4!
