TOPIC: Residential Codes

Although knowledge of residentials codes is not a must for home inspections, it is always good to be familiar with them when placing a discrepancy on the home inspection report. Can anyone tell me about Code-Check refrence material before I purchase it? Is is a good tool for referencing or is there other code reference material out there to use. I went into the website of the IRC which reference codes for certain things. It looked real good. Your comments, please.

I've heard a lot of guys say they have the Code-Check books and they find them invaluable. Even though you never quote code, it still gives you the backing when your pointing out something as deficient.

Harvey, Code Check books are a great resource, easy to read and understand, and durable for field use. If you need them fast, The Home Depot sells them as does Lowes. You could probably save $$$ on E-bay except for shipping.

Ditto on all comments.  I bought my most recent copy at the ITA show in Las Vegas.

You may want to do a search on Craig's list too.  I have thought about getting code books but haven't done it yet.
