Heavy algae staining on south side of home and portion by electrical meter.
My thoughts are the wood was exposed, wet and algae formed, not sure about the area by the electrical. Any thoughts or recommendations? I do not like to just say pressure wash and then he soaks the electrical meter. |

Hi. Dave.
A little Oxygen bleach and a scrub brush. Some siding Manufactures don't recommend pressure wash but some do. Recommend Manufactures instructions for cleaning of their products. Other cleaners. General cleaners (e.g., Simple Green®, Nice & Easy®, Armor All®, etc.) can be used to clean dirt, bird droppings, and spider webs. I would strongly recommend that the meter enclosure area be completly taped and covered with poly wether cleaned by hand or pressure washer. Looks like the primary feeders are in conduit, but the secondary wires a most likely behind that meter box. One would not want water to follow the conductors inside the main panel. I just washed mine Saturday and just used a top job window cleaner. Used a one quart container that fits on my hose that I use for spraying insecticides on my crabapple tree. There is a setting to dispense the amount of liquid out of the quart and the sharp spray goes up 25' with good water pressure. works great. Hope this helps. |
