TOPIC: CL320 Meter and 400Amp (Dual 200 feeds)

Hello I am new to inspecting so bear with me. Is there a chart that is good to use to verify meters to service? A house I just looked at is a CL320 Meter feeding (2) 200 Amp main panels.  Having trouble confirming on line source for acceptable.

Steven...you need to make sure the incoming service wires match the main breaker/panel rating.
Since the 70's all meter bases need to be rated at 200amp.

Yes I understand that I need to check the wire sizes of the feeders for each of the two 200 amp panels. They have 400 Amps service for the home but it is in two (2) 200 amp separate panels fed from the same CL320Meter. My question is if the CL320 meter matches up to the 400 amps

Amps are not add for each leg for a total panel rating! Each leg is 200amp Rated.  This does not make a 400 amp panel

Sorry I am not being clear.  Correct. Each panel is 200 amp.  I just wanted to make sure the Meter was adequate so as it would not be the limiting factor for the total 400 amp service since it feeds both of the 200 Amp panels. It is not a main plus sub but two mains split off the meter 200a feeds to each.

It also depends if one panel is a sub of the other or not.  I had a home with a 600 amp service and and 1/2 doz sub panels with 200 & 100 amp panels down stream.  Then you need to check its rating
