This breaker panel has two shut-off breakers, each one with 200 amps. Does this mean the house has 400 amps available?
Also, the second photo shows two wires cut at the breaker attachments. Why would somebody install these two wires and then cut them. Why not remove the wires or the breakers if they were installed needlessly? |

What's the size of the incoming service wires? That's important- Typically 2/0 for 200amp. Looks like a Siemens Quadraplex. The 200amp handle rating is typically the total. There should also be a rating on the panel (often the door).
You don't add the current on each leg of a panel for the total. You also have a double tap on the right phase above the 30amp220v breaker |

Thanks Dan, I was so busy looking at the amps and the two cut off wires that I missed the double tap.

Each leg in in a panel is 200amps, but they aren't added for current- they are "out of phase"; however, each legs voltage "is" added which gives you 220V
Always make sure the service wires match the panel. I just did an inspection Tuesday where the service wire was rated at 60amps & the panel was 100amps |

That looks like a 100 amp panel as the upper 200 amp breaker has no service wires.
Main appears to be at bottom left. There are other issues as well, one breaker does not appear to be rated for the panel manufacture. Dan mentioned the double taps. Breaker in off position. Breaker with cut wires should be evaluated. (remove cut wires and what does panel legend state?) |

GUYS GUYS....its 200amp!!! The service wire aren't shown, but you can see the bus bars going in. That top pic looks like its on its side
The 100 amp is most likely going to a subpanel! |
