1. Absence of proper bonding and grounding of electrical systems.
2. Absence of proper overcurrent protection.
3. Any electrical shock or “tingling” felt when touching metal objects.
4. Any evidence of tampering or flying splices added to provide additional outlets.
5. Any exposed, energized surface accessible by unqualified persons.
6. Any sound and or sight of or evidence of sparking and arcing.
7. Appliances (cord connected types) permanently wired into outlets.
8. Burning or charred smells in the building near electrical equipment.
9. Dangerous exposed temporary wiring connections.
10. Dead front panel covers missing leaving exposed wiring.
11. Evidence of burn marks at outlets, cabinets, junction box or light fixture.
12. Evidence of overheated electrical wiring systems.
13. Exposure to overhead electrical lines because they are too low.
14. Flickering lights or intermittent equipment operation.
15. Improper size of conductor for load.
16. Improper voltage.
17. Missing or improper cord caps.
18. Missing cord caps wires pushed into outlet openings.
19. No grounding of building electrical systems.
20. Outlets or other electrical components within shower stalls.

Joe, thanks for the list. What about lights dimming when an A/C unit powers on?

I would suggest that you, or your clients should call their local power company and ask for their suggestions or handout information sheet.

Sometimes the connections at the service point at the drip loop and SEC's and those to and through each termination can be the reason too because of loose connections or corrosion. I have seen Romex connectors used at the first splice because it was left when the service was replaced or repaired.

Most utility companies will supply those fittings to the installers.

I am sure that we will hear of other recommendations, why searching the net just produced over 100,000 replies on this!

I will research NFPA 90A and my library for more information.
