TOPIC: Windows Phone

Windows Phone 14 years 9 months ago #28246

Dom,
I just purchased a Windows Mobile phone (HTC Pro Touch 2 - ver 6.5) and since my litercay level on technology is way below normal, do you have a mobile version of HIP? If I understand the sales guy (yeah I've heard about sales guys) I can do a remote connect to my laptop and possibly get into the HIP that way. I am thinking (gets me in trouble) that if there was a mobile version of HIP that may be easier?
This has probably been discussed before although I did not find it and if so, just let me know where and I will go from there.
Thanks!

Hi Kirk,

We stopped testing out working wih PDA's/Phones a few years ago after some of the major manufacturers got out of making them (most other software companies did as well). The 2.5 inch screens only show 5 comments at a time which makes it very inefficient, and very few inspectors ever used them for more than a month.

Instead check out a tablet like the Asus T91 or the CTL2go ( www.ctlcorp.com ) which have a 9 inch touch screen , can convert handwriting to text (entire sentences rather than one letter at a time on a phone), can flip over and have a keyboard and only costs $499 (now $439 through BJS.com). You can see 30-50 comments at a time and with one click see another 30-50 which speeds things up dramatically. They also have integrated wireless, usb ports for printing and memory cards to import photos, so you don't have to transfer to another computer and finish at the end like you would with a PDA. You can also edit the template on the fly, which you can't with a PDA. Personally I prefer the CTL2go and you'll see many inspectors on our boards talking about them.

You could connect over wireless but it would take you a minute just to select comments under one tab versus seconds with a tablet.
