TOPIC: ASUS tablet touch screen settings

ASUS tablet touch screen settings 15 years 1 month ago #22227

I am at the end of my rope with this tablet idea and hope someone can help me out before I run this little computer over with my truck.
HIP software is based on highlighting items. My tablet screen isn't worth a **** when it comes to highlighting anything by tapping the screen- either it will just "outline" the item I'm trying to highlight and if I double tap it it will highlight the item and also open the edit box. If I want to un-highlight an item it won't or it will open the edit box again. I have tried various mouse, keyboard and file settings and some helped a bit but nothing has helped enough to make this computer worth taking out of the pouch. I hope someone can help me get this thing set up right, I'm about to loose my sanity!!
Thanks for letting me vent,
Gill McLane

Hi Gill,

Are you using the ASUS T91? So far everyone has been loving it. Make sure you perform a screen calibration. There should be an option under your Program Files or in the Control Panel. I don't have one so I couldn't say exactly. If you still have problems give Louie Flores or one of the other guys in the PDA/Tablet thread that bought one a call and ask what they did to calibrate it. You also should adjust your double click speed under your control panel, mouse settings.

Double click should always open to edit, so that is correct. If your single click is outlining that means you're clicking the border of the item, not the center (hence calibration being needed).

What resolution are you running at? Right click on the desktop and click on Properties to find out.

Hi Gill,Have perform a screen calibration? If not click start then all programs, look for touch panel tool and do the 9 point calibration you can also do the draw test. that should take care of it. If not let me know..

Thanks gentlemen. I've done the calibration and drawing test numerous times since I received this thing but that doesn't seem to be the issue. It's more of a sensitivity thing- I've even tried different types of instruments like pencil erasers and the stylus from my dell axiom portable with no difference. A lot of times I will tap a line and it will highlight and un-highlight almost immediately. Quick taps, long taps even holding it down on the screen- same mixed results. I have a sneaky suspicion it is some obscure setting buried somewhere- typical PC / windows nightmare. Dom, to answer your questions- screen is 1024 by 600 pixels.
Thanks again

Gill , is it the ASUS T91? If none of the other guys are having this problem with theirs without making changes, it's possible your screen is bad. Sensitivity is controlled in the control panel, but you can call ASUS and find out.
