I leave it as a service as well on our servers. It's very resource efficient as you pointed out.

Speaking of backing up computers; what about email? That confuses me. If I have a gmail account and use Outlook for my email, do I need to back it up? I always thought if my computer crashed I could get all my email off the gmail site. Do I need to back up the email, or the contacts or the address book? I get lost with this. I use Carbonite for offline, but it says Some email files are larger than 4GB, so please check your email files to make sure they are included.

OK good, What about my outlook calender, contacts and address book?

Hook it up so it's syncing with Google's contacts. Mine sync with my phone via Google as well.
