TOPIC: About 4.0 video feature

About 4.0 video feature 10 years 2 months ago #58783

Just wondering if any of you have gone beyond playing with it and how you are using it in your report.

My take is it would be great to have a report with nothing but issues [ in other words full summary report ]

One way I am studying is to use the Android cameras ability to take still shots during video .
My method is to create separate videos for different rooms or systems and create a stop action video that allows me to squeeze comments in at a rapid pace without need to edit later.

[ will use this method for material comments primarily ]

Example:
Zoom on sink trap and state material....hit freeze....focus at water supply....restart video...state material of supply pipe.....freeze video....etc.
If there is lets say a issue with the trap leaking you can take a still shot between freezes which is a nice feature with Samsung.
My question is because during video there is no timeout where the screen goes black [ wastes battery} what other video device might be better where I can stop and start in the same video segment plus take still shots during recording like with Samsung phones and cameras I own.

My reason for all of this is to create a faster report with fewer pages that gets material comments out of the way.

Just used it today. I had a toilet which had water right up against the bottom edge of the base which "pulsated" when the toilet was flushed. It never leaked out further so this was evidence there was a leak at the wax ring. It also didn't show up well in a photo so the video worked perfectly!  I used it just like a photo, wrote the comment, had the video inserted and captioned it as if it were a photo. It was a good opportunity for a video.

I've toyed with the idea of inserting a video in the cover photo slot. It does work there, but a white stripe appears along the right side at the end of the video which obscures a small part of the page. Meant to mention that to Dom.

I also thought it would be cool to have a short intro video in the logo slot of the cover page, but it doesn't allow the entry of an mp4 file.

The only thing I would mention about your video idea is that a pdf with videos does not like large video files. I have had adobe refuse to open when the file was large. Video files bloat to really large sizes without much effort.

Hi Cam
Thats why my plan is to try and use them a little different.
Does your ipad allow video stitch ?

I want to simply make a fast comment and jump to the next comment with no silence sort of speak which will tighten up the videos and make even the camera shy sound professional in a report video.

The other idea is to use still shots with audio which I believe will act as a video but use less MB space.

Picture being in a room and the video jumps rapidly from comment to comment at a rapid pace.
The Samsungs allow still shots during video use as well or you can rerun the video on your phone/camera and collect a still off it afterwards making it interesting if you do so room by room then bulk add into HIP gallery.

Only issue as mentioned the other day is the HIP gallery butchers the still shot.

I am sure Dom will fix that at some point.

Cameron, how long was the video? It should automatically be scaling the video file size.

The initial tests I did were with a 2-3 minute video. It was big. Once I scaled the size down to 10-20 seconds it worked fine. I updated adobe and flash just be certain, but only reducing the size got it to work.
