Home Inspector Pro 3.2.1 and HIP Mobile for Android Released! 12 years 7 months ago #48154

HIP Mobile for Android and Home Inspector Pro 3.20 Have Been Released!!

Home Inspector Pro has officially released Home Inspector Pro 3.2 for Windows (Mac update will be released shortly) and along with it, Mobile HIP for Android. You can download the long awaited Mobile HIP from your Android tablet or phone by going to Google Play and search for Home Inspector Pro. Go to http://www.homeinspectorpro.com/Home-Inspector-Pro/an-overview-of-hip-mobile-android-home-inspector-software.html to watch a video on how easy HIP Mobile is to use.

Mobile HIP allows you to sync all of your templates from the desktop version of HIP and collect data and take photos while on the inspection saving inspectors even more time. Once done the inspection is sync'd through the cloud back to the Mac or Windows version of Home Inspector Pro where any final touches can be made and the report generated. Mobile HIP is free for the next month for inspectors to use and will be $199 after for the mobile license (which will eventually include the iPhone and iPad version as well). We've added the cloud service into part of the existing upload service at the current price. We did not increase the upload service cost ($20/mo or $15/mo if you have a website with us) even though it includes even more features. This cost helps cover the massive amount of data storage involved.

Home Inspector Pro 3.2 has also been released with lots of new features! Remember, this is a free upgrade for Home Inspector Pro 3 users.

Just to list a few of the new features and changed added in Home Inspector Pro 3.2. I've included new features added in other updates since 3.0 in case you haven't updated. Make sure to read over at least the New Features and Design Changes!

Log in to homeinspectorpro.com adn click Home Inspector Pro Downloads to get the latest update, or click Download Trial if you don't currenly have Home Inspector Pro installed.
Home Inspector Pro 3.2 New Features!

New Feature: Added a Mobile Sync area to sync templates and inspections to the cloud

New Feature: Full integration with RecallChek. Record appliance make, model and serial (optional) using the new RecallChek buttons and then submit the data for a RecallChek report.

New Feature: Added a French Template, spell check and French interface (menus and options are all in French).

New Feature: Added in Internationalization (i18n) features which allow the entire HIP interface to be translated into other languages. Go to Edit->Program Language to choose the interface language in the program.

New Feature: Added an "Add Note" button when editing/adding narratives that inserts a NOTE for you to save time. It automatically selects the word NOTE so you can just start typing to replace with your own without having to highlight anything.

New Feature: If you select a comment but don't move it to black/red the program will warn you that you forgot!

New Feature: If you have multiple comments selected in the damage or selection panel and click delete you will see a popup warning first confirming the delete.

New Feature: Keyboard shortcuts now work with drop down boxes to slot photos. Use tab/shift tab to go forwards & backwards between boxes. Click the down arrow to open a box, select an item and click enter to automatically open the items box. You can also use the keyboard to automatically jump to a letter.

New Feature: Alternative rating options were added. Instead of just having an X you can have multiple different styles of X and check marks. Click Report Settings->Ratings->Rating Options to try them out!

Design Change: Updated the InterNACHI 4 Point template. If you already have it you'd need to delete or rename your copy for the installer to install the new version.

Design Change: Speed enancements made to open/save inspection, open/save template and opening the software.

Design Change: Renamed the old Edit->Language to Edit->Dictionary to reduce any possible confusion with the interface language.

Design Change: HIP Login Info forces a lowercase username to reduce upload conflicts.

Design Change: When you click Remove Photo a popup will now ask you to confirm you want to remove images.

Design Change: The remove photo button is now only enabled if there's actually a picture added.

Bug Fix: Table border was showing up if ratings were off and photos were set to 2 across with no content select for the item.

Bug Fix: The item separator Numbering was missing from Report Settings->Options reset all damage panel separators. Fixed.

Bug Fix: If narratives had >> before << which some guys were doing for notes it was confusing the new Lists feature and preventing a report from generating.

3.0.8

New Feature: Ability to add borders to photos of any color and variable thickness. Go to Report Settings->Options to choose your options.

Design Change: Folder selection window when you click Batch Add photos has been replaced with a native browser.

Bug Fix: Color chooser on the Report Settings->Section Colors & Print Order would pop behind the program if you clicked off to the side.

Bug Fix: Mac documents won't indent.

Bug Fix: Issue using file dialogs on Mac's fixed.

Bug Fix: News page turns off properly if desired on Windows now.

3.0.4

New Feature: While slotting photos the section items (i.e. walls, floors, cabinets, etc) drop down box will automatically pop open when you select the section in the first drop down box. This cuts the time inserting photos by 25%!

Bug Fix: New Copy/Paste feature was missing for the 1 Damage Panel edit template screen. Now fixed.

3.0.3

Bug Fix: SketchPad wasn't refreshing the screen when you went to edit an existing sketch.

3.0.2

New Feature: Added a right click option in all fields for Undo/Cut/Copy/Paste/Select All!

Bug Fix: 3.0 broke Edit Photo text. This has been fixed.

Bug Fix: Spellcheck wasn't enabled when adding a 1 Damage Panel field to the template.

3.0.1

Design Change: When a license file is loaded the inspector will be redirected to the Compmany Information page and told the license has been loaded successfully.

Design Change: Reverted how clicks are treated on Red>>> & Black>>> back to the method pre 2.9. The 2.9.3-3.0 version didn't work well on tablets (stylus couldn't be moved).

Design Change: SketchPad asks if you want 1/4, 1/2 or full page sketch upon opening.

Bug Fix: Fixed undo/redo in skethpad

Bug Fix: Fixed ability to click Edit to continue to work on the same sketch

Bug Fix: Notes will not show in caption text when printing.

Bug Fix: Fixed header font color not saving per section.

Bug Fix: Fixed Damage Description font color not loading.

3.0

New Feature: HIP Sketch Pad! This is one of the largest new features and has been in the works for almost 2 years off & on. Allows you to draw out floor plans and other diagrams, to scale within HIP. Sketchs can be the same size as a normal HIP picture (400x400), as tall as a normal picture but as wide as the page (800x400) or FULL PAGE! This is a huge new feature with tons of components and will be growing even more in time to work for pest inspections and other applications.

New Feature: Photos can now be displayed 2 OR 3 across on the report under Report Settings->Options

New Feature: Mac users can now import photos directly from iPhoto! This should save at least 5 minutes per report!

New Feature: There are now 3 photo quality settings for photos listed under Report Settings->Options with 1 being the lowest and 3 the highest. A setting of 2 is the default for 2 across, and 3 is the default setting for 3 acrosss. 3 will have the best quality but also will produce larger PDF's (not much of an issue with 3 across).

New Feature: Added the ability to change to font type & size of the header & footer within each section. Go to Report Settings->Print Options to make the changes.

New Feature: You can add a descriptive comment/notes/short hand, at the front of narratives that helps you find the comment easier and it won't show on the final report. For example: Leaking SinkWater was observed under the sink due to a leak. I recommend having this repaired. Leaking Sink shows within Home Inspector Pro to make the comment easier to find but will not show on the report.  Just put your "Note" within [[ ]] and you're set!

New Feature: HIP Start page. When Home Inspector Pro starts up you'll be greeted by a page containing a HIP Tip, Upcoming Events, Most Recent Message Board Posts and more! This page will not appear if you aren't connected to the Internet. It can be prevented from starting up in the future undre Report Settings->Options. You can manually visit the page by clicking on About->HIP News at the top of the program.

New Feature: Print Options (what sections you want included, and what colors) now appears before generating report. You can also choose not to have the screen show at this time.

New Feature: If you try to save the inspection you're currently working on over an inspection with a different file name, you'll get a warning message.

New Feature: Added an option to remove item number (i.e. 1. Cabinet, 2. Floors, 3. Walls, etc) within the report and summary. Set the option under Report Settings->Options->Item Options. The default is to print the numbers.

New Feature: New item separator for damage panels (observations) called Numbering added. This will auto number comments in a format using the item number/letter + comment number. For examaple if Kitchen Cabinets are item 2 then the comments within that item will be 2.1,2.2, etc. The same format will appear on the summary. This will be expanded in the future to include selection panels and a few additional options.

New Feature: A whole new, native Mac/Windows file dialog window has been added. When adding photos one at a time you can now view thumbnails of all images in the directory at once using the system dialog. Works with 32 or 64 bit versions of Java.

Design Change: Changed how files save internally to work around a bug in Java 7.

Design Change: Open/Save Inspection dialogs have been updated to allow easier navigation through the system and network drives. Works with 32 or 64 bit versions of Java.

Design Change: Header/Footer format 2 now changes the contract as well.

Design Change: Page numbers will now show on the contract.

Design Change: When checking the client/agent box to upload a report the program will check to make sure you have a valid email entered in for them and warn you if you don't.

Design Change: Updated English, Italian and Spanish with much better, larger dictionaries.

Bug Fix (technically with Java, not HIP): Changed algorithms for resizing and importing images to be compatible with Java 7 (1.7).

Bug Fix: Tracked down and fixed a problem that caused photo loss for a few inspectors. This occured when the Edit Photo button was double clicked rather than single clicked and the X was used to exit the photo editor. It also occurred if you clicked Open Inspection when working on an inspection, then Save Inspection (thanks to Cameron Anderson for finding this one!). The problem is now fixed.

Bug Fix: Color of total page numbers in footer will always be correct.

Bug Fix: Eliminated the problem with the extra space in the page numbers (x of y) if there was 10 pages or less.

Dominic, I'm checking the phone app now an like what I see. I generally start my reports home before I actually go to the property. I'm looking for the option that I can upload my report that started on my laptop to the cloud (not a Template). Am I over looking something or is this is not an option.  ???

I like that you could also start inspections if not going right home and want to add something while still fresh in your head.
laptops and tablets could be a pain to take out or carry but the phone is right there to take notes as you are thinking.

John, not yet but we will be adding that feature soon. Right now it was important to get a fully functional version (which had been beta tested for 3-4 months) out there. Then we'll keep adding new features like we always do!

Thats the only disappointment I have with the program is that you can't save a template with preselected items. For me I have a competed report and change only those item that are defects or description.  It saves a lot of time for me. It might be easier to give the option to save the template with preselected items than write code for the mobile.

Yup, guys do that now by clicking Save Inspection and saving it as a name, then they open and use that one. We've had a few guys request the ability to save inspections with notes over the last few months so we're looking at making that an option as well.
