TOPIC: Home Inspector Pro 2.9 Released

Re: Home Inspector Pro 2.9 Beta Released 13 years 9 months ago #38964

Drew, creating/using lists is really simple - here is a step by step
- click onto the comment you want to insert the
in, i.e - Windows in the house are made of:
    - click "Edit list" in the top of new window. In the newly open window click "Add list"
    - in the box line type in "Material Types" click OK
    - highlight the <<Material Types>>  line, click Add comment on the right/top
    - enter the comment i.e "wood", or " vinyl " .... you can add several comment at this time, and click OK after each.
    - Click OK again
    - now click "Insert list" on the top and select the list from the drop down option - in your case <<Material Types>>, this will insert the list option into the comment at the position of the cursor. Click OK
    - now your comment looks like this : Windows in the house are made of <<Material Types>>

So you have created a list, which you can use in different comments in the future.
When you select the comment with a list in it, move it over to the damage panel, now you will still need to double click the comment and select the proper choice for your report - i.e "vinyl" and click OK.
Seems like too much clicking, but once you are set up, you can use those lists in many different comments over and over
I hope this will help to get you moving again :)

Yes Dominic. I am talking about when you open the drop down window from the List that was moved to red-black.

When you dbl click the moved list in red-black you can only pick one entry at at time. This requires adding several lists (often you don't know how many you need) to get all the items in that list selected.

I have several items in each list that apply to say; Electrical.
I could break down electrical into more lists, but that takes more initial time as well. Just haven't tried to work around this as I dictate faster than hunt-and-peck.

I got a new large touch screen computer to do my reports. I can run four or five programs on the open desktop. As this brings me into the "tablet" realm, I'm looking into working more on my lists...

BTW: the new photo feature really improves report accuracy. When you have to bounce around there is a high probability that you will miss something between photo captions and narration  parts of the report. Looking forward to being able to handle all the dictation in one place.

Another side thought; when working in the photos section selecting where they will appear in the report, you must select a tab and the box next to it (?). I want all my pics to print out at the bottom of the "Section/Page" (not in sub-sections of the report section). Is it possible to select a location in the left box and leave the right box blank (which will default to print at the bottom of the section)? That could save a hundred clicks! ;-)

It's funny how things work. No one has EVER requested this feature until this month. Now you're like the 6th one to request something similar (you're slightly different). Usually for IR or people who do special jobs. So, it's on the to-do list. I envision selecting both drop downs when batch adding. So you batch add 50 photos and send them all to one area, then batch add more. You would need a 'Photo' area added into each section that you'd select.

How do you want multiple list items separated? Comma?

Frank, thanks for helping out!!! It's greatly appreciated.

I just loaded the beta to try out this morning. I seem to have a mental block with this program that I NEVER had before!  :o I still don't use the lists, since I gave up on them) I cannot get the pics to show up on the right side after I batch load them. ???

Drew, which photo option do you have set (off, replace red/black, right of red/black)?

I have been cussing it for a while, but I tolerate it. I thought that as you were working on the photo stuff, now would be a good time to consider it if it is not too much trouble.

I think a period as it will be a seperate matter on the same subject.

Example:

GFCI: No GFCI in the bathroom. Open ground on the GFCI circuit. Broken waterproof cover on exterior GFCI outlet.

So long as I can edit it in the defect box, all I want is to get all the text in there. I modify the text in many cases to add location or non-relevant stuff.

Don't you have those as 3 totally different comments? Most people are using lists for 1-3 words, though I've seen a few use it for more.

Thanks for the explanation Frank. I long for the animated tutorials of yesteryear! :'(
