Built for teaching: Why this inspection school made Home Inspector Pro its standard

home inspector pro built for inspection schools

When Inspection Training of Arizona (ITAZ) went looking for reporting software to build its curriculum around, the ask was simple: something mobile, something instructors and students could use together in real time, and something graduates could actually keep using once they got licensed. Two years and dozens of student cohorts later, and ITAZ hasn’t looked back.

Before Home Inspector Pro, ITAZ had students using custom-built, laptop-only software. Students took notes in the field, then had to re-enter everything into report templates later — a slow process for students, as well as for their instructors stuck reviewing and grading it all after the fact.

Today, ITAZ students complete about 90% of their reports on-site, using the same shared template bundles, dropdowns, and canned comments as their instructors in Home Inspector Pro. New students pick up the basics in about 20 minutes of hands-on training, and most are comfortable running a parallel inspection solo after just one or two sessions.

As ITAZ instructor Dominick Grossi puts it, HIP “gave us this sweet spot of doing 90% of the report together onsite…it really checked a lot of boxes: mobility, flexibility, efficiency.”

The bigger win, though, is what happens after graduation.

Because students train on the same software they’ll use as licensed inspectors, graduates walk into their first paying job already fluent in their reporting tool. No second learning curve stacked on top of starting a business. Instructors have even seen alumni circling back years later to trade tips and tricks with the school that trained them.

For an inspection school, that’s the real ROI of a software partnership: more efficient student evaluation, more consistency across instructors, and graduates who hit the ground running instead of scrambling to pick a reporting tool once they’ve completed their coursework.
