TOPIC: Theme 4 (2 shades of brown)

Re: Theme 4 (2 shades of brown) 14 years 7 months ago #19638

He saved the image to his computer and used GIMP (a free photo editing program) to add the text in the photo editor. He also turned off the default text under Themes->Configure by unchecking Site Name & Slogan. Mike has been doing some graphics for other guys for a fee, shoot him an email if you need help.

I've redone mine w/ photoscape.  Please take a look.  www.thompsonpropertyinspection.com

Are you saying the text will not show up in google?

Is there another way?

The way you're doing it the text will not show to Google as it's just an image. If you're just doing straight text (nothing fancy) then create a block and put it in the header. There's even a block already called header. Just edit it , save it, then set the location as the header. You can accomplish the same thing you did in photoscape.

I did try it; however, it limits me.  If I create my name with a larger font, it drops it into 2 lines instead of going across the page.

Ahh true. The header block was made to not extend past where the inspector was on the right so text wouldn't overlap that image. There's nothing I can do about that though is it would affect everyone's site to change it. You can go ahead and just use it as an image as you have, just make sure to include the text with city home inspector/inspections multiple times on your home and other pages.

I think that the look of the header outweighs the little SEO you would get from the blocks. You need to have a clean good looking header. If it looks bad, it will look unprofessional and that is not good for business. As Dom says, add more SEO to your site.
