TOPIC: How to put a page from another site within yours

Re: How to put a page from another site within yours 14 years 10 months ago #28230

Dominic I was wondering if you can do this with a page from your own website.  When we were building pages in college we would use an include statement to include headers and footers we built that would appear on every page.  I was thinking I would make a footer to go on most pages for the areas we serviced and then would only have to change one place and the changes would show on every page that had this footer.

If you could tell me if this is the same type of thing it would be greatly appreciated.

Fred, we already have that in our system, it's called Blocks. You can add the blocks anywhere within your site. Set them to all pages, or just specific pages. Check out the written and animated tutorial on them.

What's being discussed in this thread is something different.

Sorry Dominic.  I actually didn't realize there was a content block at the bottom of the blocks menu.

Not a problem! Sorry, I think my writing came out sounding different than I meant it!

There's different blocks in different themes. Some only have 4 areas, some have up to 20. You could use an IFRAME to insert it anywhere but it doesn't help your SEO as the IFRAME isn't read by the spiders as existing on the new page.

You're talking about PHP include statements.

Finally getting some time to play around with this website, already added the Call Me button and embedded my blog onto a content page. Now just have to wait for the spiders to come get me. Fun.
