Hi all, I have been inspecting for approximately 40 years and am now just trying to figure out which end is up with HIP. I have not even attempted to do a sample report or template.
I would like to see a report template that is COMPLETELY narrative and the finished product looks like a word-processed consultants report, without any boxes, ratings, etc. Any recommendations? Checking out a new reporting system is pretty overwhelming and I am trying to figure our if this dog can learn one more new trick!! Thanks for your input. |

Hi Larry!
Take a look at www.homeinspectorpro.com/dmdocuments/NOVASample.pdf and www.homeinspectorpro.com/inspectionrepor...deoSampleReport1.pdf and let us know what you would do differently here, or post a sample of one of your reports. Of course borders and stuff can easily be turned on/off. |

Dom, thank you for responding to me. Attached is a sample of one of my recent reports. As you can see it is entirely narrative. My goal is to not reinvent the wheel. My customer base is accustomed to my style of reporting and I want to start by putting out a report that is very similar, not necessarily exactly like, my current report.
Of the two samples you directed me to, the second is closer to what I have in mind. As you can see in my report, there are no photos. I know this is anachronistic, and don't need to be reminded of such... but that is the way I have been working for many years and I have a loyal client base that is very happy with my reports as they are. My goal is to provide a report that looks like a consultants findings, and not a formatted report with headings and sections. Again, I know my "way" is old fashioned, but I really need a system that can be made to work for the way I do my reports, and not make me totally change my way of doing things after 40 years. Please let me know what you think and if you think I can accomplish what I am attempting... or not. Thanks again and I really appreciate your input. BTW... I went out today and purchased a Samsung Galaxy 8 tablet to play with, but still have no clue how to use it to accomplish the above. |

Hi Larry,
This is very easy to replicate in HIP. Obviously for starters, you won't include photos. You basically have a double spaced document so in Home Inspector Pro you will set your item separator to "New Line + Blank Line," aka double spaced. You can change up the sections and items to match yours via the Edit Template button in the software. For starters, get everything going on your Windows/Mac. Then we can get you going on mobile. Check out the Edit Template tutorials on our site under Tutorials at the top. If you want to jump on a training session just let me know. |

Dom, thank you for being so responsive, and I really appreciate it.
It is good to know it can be done. I am overwhelmed by the prospect of building a new report format AND entering the auto text data from my existing word-based system. I will check out some of the videos and see if this old dog is up to learning a new trick. BTW... I am responding to you from the Samsung tablet with a Bluetooth keyboard. |

Hey, that's progress! When you're ready, give us a call and do a training session with Wayne (the Hoyt that hasn't earned his second t). He'll walk you through what you need to learn.
