I want to take the InterNACHI Narratives and optimize them for HIP mobile. Any suggestions on template organization for a narrative library with 21 sections and 8000 narratives?

There's nothing to do except possibly add Notes. The search feature within each section makes it extremely easy to find the narratives you want.

What about increasing the number of drop downs and abbreviating words in the notes. Also, is it better to have more heading and fewer sub-headings or vice versa?
Also, with 4 bedrooms upstairs, downstairs, and main floor, that's 12 bedrooms. Is there a mor efficient way to label them so that there's less to scroll through? |

Place all bedrooms in one section and identify the defects found by room, or use a system template. I use a system type template, so bedrooms is not a section for me. If I find defects I describe where it was found. For example, if I find a receptacle does not work in a bedroom, I have a narrative that states, "Receptacle(s) do not operate. Location(s): East bedroom, garage, basement". The locations are all in a drop down menu list. I just choose the room. I think if you do room by room inspection you duplicate yourself and it confuses the client.

I disagree. Room by Room templates are much easier for clients to read. Clients think of the house by picturing themselves in the house. It also takes longer to do a report on site in a System template as there's more jumping around to do. A room by room or hybrid is best.

I look at it this way. Say the client needs to hire an electrician; it is easier to look at the electrical section and see what needs correcting than to go through the report and find all the rooms that have inoperable receptacles, or which rooms had bad switches.
