Hi David,
I assumed, apparently incorrectly, that I could make edits in the "edit documents" pane. Silly me! LOL I don't have OpenOffice, only Word 2003. I'll mess around with some stuff and see how it goes. I think I still have another word processor program floating around somewhere on the comp as well. I suppose I can always download OO and just install the "Write" portion if needed. Dana |

You can edit the documents, what document are you creating? Word 2003, that is the issue with the documents. You can use clipboard just do not use word. Open Office is a good program and you can open any word document with it. It is free!! |

When I edit docs in the edit docs panel, the formatting does not work. I just get one big block of text in the pdf of the report.
I'm trying to create an "opening statement" page before the summary page that thanks the client for having us do the inspection, they can call anytime for more info blah, blah and so forth. My eyes are starting to cross here. Think I need a break. Been at this since 6 am. |

Dana,
I've seen this a few times. Try deleting the doc and starting it from scratch. If anything from Word or another program has been copied in it will screw up the document as html isn't compatible with Word formatting. You can copy the Word document to Notepad (Start->Programs->Accessories->Notepad) then paste it from there into a new document. Then you'll have all the formatting you want. |

David is correct, you will never be done. As you get more experience and see more conditions you will keep adding, deleting and tweaking. You will get to a point where your streamlined comments apply to most of the conditions that you encounter. But there is always that weird situation that will arise that you are not prepared for and you get to be creative and tailor a comment for that issue. All the best to you. |

Okay, I'm finally getting a handle on this. I see what you mean Dom, Word shoves all kinds of crap in there. Looks like a CSS coding. (cascading style sheet, for those that are not familiar) I finally managed to hack the coding with straight HTML tagging and prune out all the CSS and got it to look right and show up the way I wanted it to in the final output.
Whew! That was fun. My coding is a bit on the rusty side, have not needed to use it for a few years. Had to dig back and find some lists of tags to use. Now that I know that works, it opens up some possibilities. |
