TOPIC: Hot Water Tank

Hot Water Tank 13 years 1 month ago #38547

:o ???

Does this seem to be a safe use of the TPR?
It appears to be a possible supply to a location in the house.

It is definitely not the correct way to do the plumbing.  If the TPR is still able to function depend on the length of the probe.  The length of the probe may be listed on the data tag on the TPRvalve, either that or you could look it up using the model number on the tag.  I would still call it out to be checked by a plumber (Maybe not the plumber who installed it.:))  I don't know how far the probe is supposed to be into the tank nor do I know how thick the insulation is on the tank.

Looks to me like they may be using the water heater bleed drain valve to drain something else in the house.  Any idea if that's correct?

Hey Jay,
To have extra plumbing attached to the TPR or the drain valve doesn't seem right. Not sure where the pipes actually come from, not sure if drain or supply to those lines. I'm concerned of cross-contamination may occur if used as drains when attached to the HWT. The plumbing is really a mess.

Oh, it isn't right Tom!  I was just wondering if they were trying some DIY drain of something else, like a new drip pan under a washing machine or a steam bath in the shower or something.  People see things on TV and think they can do stuff for themselves.  In a half an hour, of course...

The work is 3rd world!  NOT CORRECT, but really fun to look at!  Sorry, I wasn't commenting on its correctness!
