This is a huge liability! You really better put this in your report. If anyone criticizes you, you can forward this video to them:

I would not be alarmist about it, but absolutely you should be checking this. It is a part that only costs a few dollars and is very easy to install. It may seem insignificant, but do you want the liability of a kid gets hurt?

I would recommend installing it on all ranges regardless of age. It is a simple, cheap safety item like a smoke detector. It will probably never be needed, but if the worst case happens, you want to cover your back-side.

It is not a deal breaker, so no one should object. and the buyer will appreciate you looking our for their family. It is a win win.

I can never understand why HI's don't put this in their routine. There just isn't a good argument against checking for this.
