TOPIC: IR Cameras

IR Cameras 5 years 11 months ago #64347

Does anyone out there in inspection land have any suggestions on a good IR camera in the $1,500 range? Any comments would be appreciated. Having a hard time in deciding on which camera is most helpful for inspections using IR photography.

Thanks Albert. I'll look into it and let you know if it's what I'm looking for. I'm even willing to spend a little more $ if I have to.

The E5 is being discontinued from what I've read.

I highly recommend you complete an entry level course BEFORE you make an equipment purchase decision. Infraspection is one of the better that has a segment devoted to equipment options and specs, and what they mean to you for use in the specific application.
Simply making an equipment purchase decision based on price alone (and perhaps a few colleague recommendations who themselves don't fully understand their camera specs) is destined for heartache. We often preach to our potential clients NOT to make a hiring decision based on solely on price. Why do inspectors ignore their own advice when it comes to proper equipment and training choices?
I certainly understand financial limitations... but please make an educated decision. ;)

FYI - I did attend the IR class taught by John McKenna last year. Course material is accepted by InterNACHI and I received my IR Certification and logo from them. So, there! I simply asked for suggestions on a good IR camera in a particular price range; not condescending and snide malicious comments. Didn't expect to get that on the Pro message board.

Thanks for your helpful comments. (NOT).
