TOPIC: Marketing Idea!!

You know how when you inspect the heating and cooling systems you rarely find a service record.

My idea was to create a 1 page document with my company logo and area to record recent and yearly service. I could also reserve a spot for clients preferred HVAC specialist. The document would be on an self stick label to easily adhere to the ductwork. I figure I can get them started. My name would be visible for future reference. This would go well my my report binder package.

What do you think??

I'm not sure how that sticker on an FAU in a home you've already inspected will translate into future business.  I'm guessing you provide excellent service, the current owner, (Your Client), isn't going to forget your name....

I'm not a fan of the binder program either.  Take the hundreds or thousands of dollars you spend on those binders and printed material each year and invest it in online marketing targeted at realtors and the home buying public.

It's the year of "Green", business and I mean all business is heading that way.  Many clients and or customers will actually be offended by the generation and waste of so much paper.  I had a client a few weeks ago who asked me not to fill and release the sinks and bath tubs as they couldn't stand the thought of wasting water.  I complied and of course had them sign a waiver acknowleding "NO" inspection of those items per their request.

I disagree that I am wasting my time. I have increased my business and my clients like the package.  I now offer this when I book my inspections so I am paid for my time and materials.

I do agree that I can add a lot to my report and web site and drive traffic to those areas. This will also be an available option in the future.

My clients also like my HVAC document idea and will create and implement when I get some time.

To each his own.

This is working for me and I stand out above my competion.

I get 75% of my referrals from BBB, Angie's list and previous clients. The other 25% is from my loyal clan of realtors. I love my agents.

Its not a bad idea.  One question though, why aren't the HVAC guys leaving their own stickers on the unit?  That's what they do around here.  How much is this little idea cost?  How often are they going to be seen?  If its only seen at a glimpse once a year at most, you may want to think of a better place to put it. 

Oh and make this a nice short sweet statement and post it to my marketing idea post.  Then I'll add it to the list of ideas at the beginning of the post.

If all your clients like the binder and the sticker on the FAU, go for it.
